Cairo Report 2002 - Chapter I

Whereas among the horses bred and owned by private breeders I saw quite a few, which fulfill the requirements to compete successfully at shows on an international level in Europe or elsewhere. Especially some younger horses that are probably tracing back in their pedigrees to some imported stallions were of very good quality. I am convinced that these private efforts and initiatives will cause new, positive impulses to the Egyptian Arabian horse in its country of origin.

left: Straight Egypitian stallion  Farid Albadeia (Ameer Albadeia x Farida), bred and owned by Dr. Nasr Marei of Albadeia Stud. In 2002 Farid Albadeia was chosen National Champion of Egypt for the fourth time at the age of 18 years.

This stallion represents the classic Egytian type in a perfect manner. Almost unique are his large dark eyes with a wide forehead and his short head with a very fine muzzle.

At the same time it may be a big opportunity for El Zahraa itself to participate and cooperate successfully in these private initiatives to some extent. During the next years El Zahraa’s management needs a lot of creativity, readiness to change and a mental openness. The heritage is still available – it must be led to the right path.
