| After winning the Shadwell Cup as a debutant four weeks ago in Cologne, the 3-year old Nil Ishan Ibn Al Sakbe, trained by Franziska Aeschbacher and owned by Patrick Glanzmann, was well placed second in the “ZAYED THE FIRST ARABIAN CUP” competing against strong horses from Qatar and France. |
A
field of 15 starters from six different countries was fighting for the win in
the 1’600 meter race with a total price money of € 15’000.-- including €
3’000.-- owners premium. Top favorite was the Amer daughter Al Anqa out
of Altesse D’Aracco owned by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al
Thani. Second favorites were beside Nil Ishan Ibn Al Sakbe (Al Sakbe
x Nil Incipit) the French stallions Shayea (Sire D’Albret x Fahiyma)
owned by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan from Abu Dhabi,
Sultan de Faust (Al Sakbe x Hakima de Carere) trained by D. de Watrigant

The
first 800 meters were run in a good pace with
Shayea on first,
Nil Ishan Ibn Al Sakbe in fourth and the favorite Al Anqa in last
position. At the home straight Nil Ishan Ibn Al Sakbe had to take the
lead very early. Al Anqa came from far behind and attacked the leader on
the last meters winning with ½ length in front of Nil Ishan Ibn Al Sakbe.
Third placed horse was the very good running German horse Terach El Samawi.
The two French horses Sultan de Faust and Shayea were both placed
fourth 5 lengths behind Terach El Samawi.left: fighting for the win under the cloudburst of Frankfurt with Al Anqa left, Nil Ishan Ibn Al Sakbe in the middle and Terach El Samawi at the rails (Foto Reini Kolb) |
