Raneb wins the Grand Prix of Arosa, January 18th 2009

At the first day of the Arosa Race Meeting on snow Raneb met in the main race a strong field of six quality horses.
The Rainbows for Life son Raneb, ridden by jockey Eric Wehrel, was the clear outsider with a quote of 10.40:1. Additionally he was loaded with the top weight of 62 kilos. The two favorites Atlantic Dancer and Le Riobt were both fighting for the first position after starting. Raneb was being placed in third position by Eric Wehrel close behind the two leaders. In the last bend Raneb passed Le Ribot on the inside and could easily distance himself from Lamirel and Atlantic Dancer by two lengths at the home stretch.

The 5-year old Raneb demonstrated again his ability to run on snow. His balance sheet on snow shows actually 2 wins and one second place out of 3 starts.
After Raneb’s long 2008 season he was pausing during October and November 2008. At the beginning of December his trainer Franziska Aeschbacher started to work with him again to prepare him for the snow season at Arosa and St. Moritz.
